New year, new name!

Hello and happy new year! It's been awhile but I'm now settled in school and ready to start a new year. I've been super busy making chocolate, doing school work, and traveling. Lots of new things to share and new outfits to show. ;) A lot has changed in my life so along with these changes I have decided to change up the blog.  Ive really found myself in my personal life and fashion sense and could not be more excited to start 2013. New name and a new start I hope you enjoy!

French toast muffins

I found this recipe on pinterest and just had to try it! Reese and I really did love them. I have never had a muffin melt in my mouth before, this is an amazing recipe. I must credit this to Velvet Lava Cafe blog though. Pictured above is how they turned out and my new monogrammed apron! Recipe is below and thanks for checking this out. Xo, Merrit

1/3 c. butter, melted(unsalted)
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg (preferably room temperature)
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk

Topping (option: cut topping in half*)
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a medium-large bowl, sift together all dry ingredients. Add wet ingredients and stir until combined, but still a bit lumpy. Don't overmix. Scoop batter into muffin tins that have sprayed with cooking spray. Using a large ice cream scoop, I got 8 medium-large muffins out of this batter; I think you could get 10-12 muffins by distributing the batter a little less generously. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they just start to turn a bit golden at the edges.

For the topping, mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Place melted butter in another small bowl. Dip the warm muffins in melted butter (you can dip just the top, but it's even tastier to dip the whole muffin!), then dip/roll the muffin in cinnamon sugar. *May have left-over topping; the extra topping can be used for dipping, while eating the muffins (oh my). Another option is to cut the topping ingredients in half. CONSUME, ENJOY, GO CRAZY!

Blueberry Pickin'

I'm finally getting around to posting our latest adventure! This is from our recent beach trip but lately I've been so busy I havent been able to breathe. :P Anywho while at the beach we went blueberry picking, something I had never done before. I loved it. I probably ate half of what I picked though. We had a great time blueberry picking and a wonderful trip. Stay tuned this week for a few recipes. Oh and leave a comment if you don't mind. Xo, Merrit

Sunday Swingin'

We had a terrific time at the beach and got a little behind on our blogging, but here is Sunday's OOTD. I went for a timeless look in white eyelet and then I found these treasures in my Grandma's jewelry chest. Both pieces are antique and I love wearing one of a kind pieces. Bailey went for a very summery look with bright yellow and polka-dots. The island has its own church where my Grandmother sings in the choir. These were perfect Sunday morning outfits.  Xo, Merrit

A dash of Merrit and a pinch of Bailey

Today I went to the mall with Bailey. I helped her shop for her trip, she is traveling to Italy and other parts of Europe as well and she need a few pieces. We also made a stop at Starbucks because I'm totally obsessed with Chai Tea Lattes. I had to take a picture of my cup because they spelled my name correctly, which has NEVER happend :p I also bought nail polish from Sephora (Go with the Flow-er).  We had a blast and Bailey found some great stuff. The dress I'm wearing is from a boutique in Charleston and you can find bailey's look below. Hope you have wonderful day and be sure to comment. xoxo, Merrit
